Planting Crocuses for Polio
23rd Oct 2015
Did you know polio is a disease that now only exists in 3 countries? It used to be many, many more.
And Donaghadee Rotary Club is part of a big campaign to get rid of polio in those 3 remaining countries.
Whenever a person receives their polio vaccination their finger is dipped in purple ink to help the doctors and nurses recognise who has had their vaccination and who has not. That is why, Donaghadee Rotary Club gave us hundreds of purple crocus bulbs to plants. These bulbs have a beautiful, purple flower which will flower in February and remind us that this disease is almost wiped out.
